Attractions

The apartment is in walking distance from all the golf courses in Vilamoura, from the mini-golf, the Marina and the beach. In front of the apartment building, you can also find a stand of the local rent-a-bicycle scheme (similar to London’s cycle hire) for the longer journeys.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach from the apartment is Falesia Beach about 15m walk or a few minutes by bicycle. Falesia is a long beach with golden sand and crystal clean waters for kilometres. The beach is fully watched and has several shaded areas (with loungers/umbrellas) that can be rented by the day, week or month and several restaurants. Many different water sports can be arranged at the Beach or at the Marina.

By the Marina, you will find the more sheltered Marina Beach, which has the similar facilities.

Sailing, fishing, dolphin watching can all be easily organised at the Marina.

It is very difficult to recommend other beaches in the Algarve as most of them are just amazing: golden sand, clean waters and stretching for miles. In our photo gallery, we have included a few of our favourites.

Golf:

Vilamoura has 5 championship golf courses, all in walking distance or 1 minute by car. Vila Sol golf is within a 5-minute drive on a road from Quarteira. Vale do Lobo & Quinta do Lago offer further choice and are within a 15 minute drive.

We recommend you check the following websites for more information about golf in the Algarve and Portugal:

Towns/Villages:

Within Vilamoura you can find the ruins of an old Roman villa - Cerro da Vila. The ruins make an interesting short visit to life 2000 years ago.

In nearby Quarteira, there is a comprehensive vegetable and fish market. If you enjoy grilling your fish in the barbeque while having a glass of icy white wine, a visit to the market is highly recommended for you will not find better catch of the day. The weekly flee market takes place on a Wednesday.

Faro, the capital of the Algarve, is a mere 25 minutes away. The historical town is surrounded by castle walls and boost many narrow and charming paths. Faro also has a marina from which transport to the nearby beaches (such as Deserta beach) can be arranged.

If you fancy the mountains, a trip to Monchique village is recommended.

A little bit further afield, and in opposite directions, you can reach the Tavira village or Lagos town. Both are fisherman villages with many nice seafood restaurants and lots of character.
